Pensacola FL Pelican Drop

For nearly a decade, residents have watched an oversized pelican fall from the Seville Tower in downtown Pensacola. Since 2016, however, the Pelican Drop has been in limbo. Earlier this year, the Downtown Improvement Board approved funding for a fireworks shows off the Seville Tower, but the event has yet to take place. But it is not for lack of interest. The Pelican Drop is an annual tradition in Pensacola, and its 25,000-plus crowds make the festival a must-see every year. This family event is a great way to ring in the New Year. The festivities will include live music on three stages, with performances from Andy Grammar on the Main Stage, Musical Fantasy on the Go Pensacola Stage, and Bad Habits and Mo Jiles on the CAT Country stage. For a non-musical family celebration, there is also a bubble stomp and a booze stomp.

The city’s public schools are run by the Escambia County School District. There are two high schools in Pensacola, J. M. Tate High School, and Pine Forest High School. There is also an elementary school, N.B. Cook Elementary. The Pelican Drop has become an annual event, so the public is invited to come out and cheer on the team!
